Tony Green for Carmel

Trusted – Transparent – Independent

Tony Green

Carmel City Council member Tony Green has filed for election for the city’s South Central District where he has served since 2017.

Since winning a caucus in January 2017 then winning the voters’ confidence for election in 2019, Green has established himself as a strong and independent voice on the Carmel City Council.

“I am proud of the City of Carmel and what we can accomplish together. However, I’m not afraid to ask hard questions and, when necessary, cast the sole “no” vote,” he said. “I believe my district expects me to stand firm for their best interests while also working constructively to keep Carmel a great place to live and raise a family.”

A decorated military veteran and United States Air Force Academy graduate, Green serves as Deputy Executive Director for the Indiana Public Retirement System (INPRS). In addition, he is an adjunct Professor of Law at Indiana University Law School at Indianapolis.

Family

Tony has three children who attend or have attended Carmel schools and Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The family has been heavily involved in sports with the Carmel Dad’s Club (CDC), Carmel FC soccer program and CYO. Green coached each of his children’s CDC basketball teams and also served as a CDC Basketball Commissioner for several years. He and his family are parishioners of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Military Service

Green’s public service career includes an extensive military background with the United States Air Force, Air Force Reserve and Indiana Air Guard as a Judge Advocate, instructor pilot, and aircraft commander.

He currently holds the rank of Colonel for the Indiana Air Guard. During his service, Green received five air medals for combat and combat support missions and twenty-one military decorations and awards while serving on eight deployments flying combat and combat support missions. He flew 33 combat missions into Afghanistan.

Green received an air medal in 1997 for a heroic life-saving act after saving an aircraft and eight lives. Later, he was honored for this act as the 1998 Air Mobility Command’s Nominee for the Mackay Trophy (Outstanding Aerial Achievement by Air Force member) and the Jabara Award (Outstanding Aerial Achievement by Academy Graduate).
